Thoughtful quotes from a strange book

I've been thinking for about two weeks what I want to say about this book that I just read. Aside from being really dark and quite depressing, I thought it exceptionally insightful and well written. I'll leave it at that and just give you a quote to illustrate my point:
.
.
.
"This is a reconstruction.... When I get out of here, if I'm ever able to set this down, in any form, even in the form of one voice to another, it will be a reconstruction then too, at yet another remove. It's impossible to say a thing exactly the way it was, because what you say can never be exact, you always have to leave something out, there are too many parts, sides, crosscurrents, nuances; too many gestures, which could mean this or that, too many shapes which can never be fully described, too many flavors, in the air or on the tongue, half-colors, too many."
The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood

HI ELAINE! Yes, I got a blog. You should check it out!;)
I wanted to follow up your book quote with a quote of my own. It is from Lamb by Christopher Moore.
" I'm having trouble speaking hip-hop. Why is it that one can busta rhyme or busta move anywhere but you must bust a cap in some's a**? Is "ho" always femanine, and "muthaf***er" always masculine, while b**** can be either? How many peeps in posse, how much booty before baby go back, do you have to be all that to get all up in that, and do I need to be dope and phat to be da bomb or can I just be "stupid"? I'll not be singing over any dead mothers until I understand." :)
