I am embarking! Finally.

OK, I have finally decided to bite the bullet and make some changes. I've been on a journey for the past few years to discover my inner activist and, after reading a cartload of books about environmentalism, I think I'm ready to embrace my desire to make my life less about consumption and more about quality.
I doubt my husband will jump on the wagon with me for the kinds of changes I'd really like to see happen, but since I'm the one that stays home and actually makes the decisions about where we buy our food, what kind of cleaning and toiletry products we use, etc. I think I'll start making some small changes and hope he doesn't complain.
We've already talked about a few things we can do that will make a small difference but are not that time consuming or life changing.

1. We have committed to only using reusable bags when we go shopping.
2. I am currently using cloth diapers but am going to "step it up" with staying on top of the laundry so they are always available for use.
3. We are switching from disposable to reusable napkins. Hey we have about a million just sitting in our closet anyway, why not use them??

We are going to start implementing these things right away.

This week I am going to try to visit several farmer's markets in the area and decide which one I'd like to frequent. We used them in Portland but since we moved I haven't actually taken the time to explore the area and choose a new one. I think I'll start with the Scripps Ranch one on Saturday, then the Hillcrest one on Sunday and the Mira Mesa one next Tuesday.
