We arrived yesterday! Our first goal was to find food, and we ended up eating at the Kona Brew Company - definitely on par with Portland's finest microbreweries. We had incredible pizza and beer and then headed north from Kona to Waikoloa where we are staying. Due to a mix up, we ended up in a different hotel room than we originally planned. So, the first night was kinda weird. Jeff and I did get down to the beach, but not until after dark.
Here is Jeff chillin already!
We went to bed early and got up early to head down to the beach to snorkel. The water was a bit too hazy to see much, but it was still incredible. I saw my favorite fish ever in it's natural habitat (the Picasso trigger fish)! Wahoo! After snorkeling we snuck into the hotel next door's pool and whiled away the time in the water and sunshine. Joy made us all an incredible black bean mango salad for lunch and then we drove up the street to the ritzy Waikoloa Hilton. The place is ridiculous. It's huge, and I really mean huge. We walked a loop from one end of the grounds to the other and it took us about a half hour. No joke. They had 3 different pool areas, one with a salt water lagoon that you can snorkel in. We didn't bring our stuff, but we're planning on exploring it more later this week.
This is the view from that hotel:
These are pics of us in the pool at the Hilton:
After swimming even more at the Hilton we went out to dinner at this amazing restaurant in Kona called Don the Beachcomber. Apparently Jack & Deb have eaten at this place since before they were engaged, and still living in Minnesota. It was special for all of us to be at "their" restaurant for father's day.
I loved this pick of Jack & Deb, and here's also one of us kids happy, sunned up and full of good food:
Our first sunset here:
Oh, and just some other random pics... Jeff and I in our "sexy" poses! Haha
So far so good on the Hawaii trip. It's been fun! But, we do wish you all were here!!

Oh, by the way, isn't that picture of my eyeball awesome?!? Jeff took it at dinner tonight.

Great pictures! I'm glad to hear that you guys are having a good time. Fred's friend Derek's rehearsal dinner was at the Kona Brewing Company. I remember really liking the lilikoi (passion fruit beer).
A little too much of exposed Jeff body.
Jealousy!!!
Except for the bit about snorkeling - I think I would start hyperventilating.
